Lock of the Day is a single lock digital game designed to help your students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Each day a new game appears for them to solve. Students can earn “streaks” for solving the Lock of the Day every day of the week. They can also navigate back to previous days and complete the games they may have missed.

## Solving Lock of the Day Puzzles

Lock of the Day is often a first introduction to solving Breakout EDU puzzles. Students may need some guidance when it comes to an approach. Explain to students that the first thing they must do is determine what type of lock they are trying to open. They should look at the keyboard to determine what possible answers they are looking for. The options will be shapes, colors, numbers, directions or letters that typically form a word. If the keyboard has arrows, for example, they are solving a direction lock and should be looking for ways to move around from one thing to another. The number of circles (inputs) also tells them important information. Once they know what they are trying to solve and how many inputs, they can then look at the clues with some understanding of what to look for.

The Lock of the Day area can be temporarily disabled. To learn more about this feature visit the page on [Student Feature Management](https://help.breakoutedu.com/space/BCSM/1611071490/Class+Settings#Student-Feature-Management).

The feature will remain locked for the students of that class until the teacher toggles it back on.

### NOTE: Disabling Lock of the Day by the teacher only works for students who are in that teacher’s class. If a student is in multiple teacher’s classes, all of their teachers would need to disable it for it to be locked for that student.
