The Breakout EDU Platform has over 900 engaging kit-based game experiences for you to use with your students. However, there may be an occasion where you are interested in designing a game of your own that utilizes your Breakout EDU Kit. Below are some resources to help you with Kit-Based Game Design!

## **Getting Started With Game Design**

Before you get started creating your game, we suggest that you plan out what your game will look like. We have created a [Teacher Game Design Template](https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/platformbreakout/hosted_files/prod/7983.pdf) to facilitate that process. 

## **Options for Lock Combinations**

Your Breakout EDU Kit comes with one key lock, one 3-digit lock, one 4-digit lock and two Multilocks that have a variety of possible combination options (letter, number, color, shape, and direction). It might be helpful to consider all of your lock options. To help with this, we have created the [Multilock Variations Sheet](https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/platformbreakout/hosted_files/prod/8690.pdf).

## **Red Lens Clues**

One of the tools found in the Breakout EDU Kit is the Red Lens Viewer. This tool is used to reveal clues that are hidden under a pattern. You can create your own Red Lens Viewer clues by writing the message in blue or cyan ink and layering letters, numbers, and words in patterns of other colors. ## **Game Timer**

Each of the Kit-Based games in the Breakout EDU platform have facilitation tools and a game timer. If you are creating your own game, you can still have this experience by using the [generic facilitation tool.](https://platform.breakoutedu.com/game/timer/breakout_physical_game) This allows you to set the time limit, turn on background music, track hint cards and more. There is also a big reveal “Broke Out” message that is revealed at the end!
