Students can earn badges and avatar customizations as they complete challenges. Challenges are designed to incentivize students to complete tasks on the platform. Tasks such as completing the Learn & Play modules, customizing their avatar and completing a Lock of the Day streak are all examples of challenges. As students complete a challenge, they will earn rewards. Completing a set number of challenges, and they will level up within the platform.

Teachers can also award badges when they observe students exhibiting skills such as perseverance, good leadership, critical thinking and problem solving. To learn more about teacher awarded badges, visit  [this page](https://help.breakoutedu.com/space/BCSM/212795394/Student+Badging).

## Completing Challenges

As students interact with the Breakout EDU platform, they will complete tasks (challenges) that earn them rewards. Some of these tasks will be teacher driven, such as completing assignments and others will be available to the student at any time. Students can keep track of available challenges in the Challenges & Rewards section of “My Account”.

Students also see available challenges and rewards in the Challenges & Rewards section of their home page.

As a challenge is completed, students will have an opportunity to unlock a reward by dragging the key to the lock.

New challenges will be exposed to students as they complete initial challenges. Occasionally, Breakout EDU will expose challenges that are related to special games or activities.

## Leveling Up

As students complete challenges, they can progress towards reaching higher levels. Achieving a higher level will grant students new challenges and rewards available only to their level. There are five possible levels within the student platform.

Students can view their current level and progress towards the next level in the lower left corner of their home page.

## Educator View

Teachers can view student levels, rewards and challenge progression in the student details view.

1. Click “My Classes”

2. Choose a class

3. From the “Roster” tab, click “View Student”
